May 12 How to find NPR stations on your road trip?Often when I am traveling I struggle to find decent radio stations. NPR is pretty good listening but I can never remember the frequencies or where to find them. I just discovered that they actually have a tool to plan your road trip: Besides have turn by turn instructions for your trip they include when to change stations Additionally they use Virtual Earth (maps.live.com) and an overlay of there radio towers. To make it even better they use the VE polygon features to show coverage of a tower and signal strength August 09 The Devil wears PradaNo I didn't morph into a fashionista I still work as an architect in Health care at Microsoft. However take a look at this clip: this is not faked or a mockup all this technology really works and I have seen it demo'd over the last year or so. Now imagine this technology at work in your corporation; giving you the ability to interact in meetings like you are there (would have been useful in NYC yesterday with that tornado) or reschedule appointments if your train/flight is running late with a simple phone call.
June 04 The Internet Explorer developer toolbar has finally been releasedThey certainly have taken their time but it is here now. They didn't really add any new functionality since Beta3 they just stabilized it. Now it is quite a useful little tool for anybody doing web or MOSS development. go get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=E59C3964-672D-4511-BB3E-2D5E1DB91038&displaylang=en

May 12 I Do not buy Toshiba hardware anymore, ever!please note that this is a personal statement and not endorsed by family, employer or other people related to me..... Toshiba laptops and tablet PC are the most mediocre made my mankind and probably in the universe. I just suffered through another two hours of getting something to work and it doesn't. (my pen) I currently own a M4 but have owned many different types in the past due to corporate policies and I will never buy one again. This summer I will get a new laptop or tablet and it will be a Lenovo, Dell or HP. Whenever I get a chance to influence somebody else's laptop/tablet purchase I will advice them correspondingly. Besides the bad hardware quality you also need a lot of crappy drivers to get your Toshiba to work. If you think (like I do) that they are bad with hardware you will notice that this is nothing compared to their skills when it comes to writing software. The amount of utilities you need to get even basic functionality out of your machine is ridiculous and eats costly resources (CPU, memory, disk) on your machine. Sorry for the interruption and back to regular programming. March 01 Are you making a difference?http://messengersays.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!5B410F7FD930829E!25315.entry I am supporting StopGlobalWarming.org Send me an IM to show that you are making a difference and who you are supporting. February 09 Talking about Microsoft Searchs Secret Weapon
A nice interview by Donny Deutsch and Bill Griffeth from CNBC with the actrice playing Ms. Dewey. She is the head of the viral marketing campaign for the new Live Search engine from Microsoft Quote Searchs Secret Weapon February 06 First picture of DIA-EDM February 2007I used a cool new feature of spaces that allows you to email a picture directly into a photo-album. I combined that with the ability of my new Blackjack smartphone to take and email pictures to upload it directly from my phone. Here is the link to my DIA-EDM photo album that I will keep updating this week with more pictures. Update: I have temporarily enabled comments for photos so you can tag and comment on things you see in the photo's e.g. who is who etc. keep it SAFE. January 30 test postplease ignore debugging a new live writer build and testing some new features Technorati tags: Windows Live Writer January 25 Live Spaces does have new alert mechanismyou can now get alerts using Windows Live Messenger if anything on my space changes. Click "Sign up for Alerts: in the top and you will be taken through a wizard that makes it happen.
this is new functionality for spaces.live.com that was released earlier this week. they also added support for embedded videos and (finally) Vista compatibility for Photo upload. Later this week they will enable a feature that allows you to publish fotos to specific albums directly from your mobile device. This sounds really cool. I am already planning to create a special folder for that and publish some pictures from my new windows mobile Black Jack phone. November 24 is plagiarism flattery?I posted something about a topic. A few minutes later I get a hit through technorati. a minute after the hit from technorati somebody else posts a very similar article with some information in that that they were unlikely to know/able to verify themselves. coincidence? hmm Maybe this is what some people think blogging is about? I use content from other peoples blogs but I always refer to the original poster. Come on plonc you could at least give me some link love. October 18 IE 7 has been releasedMicrosoft has released IE7 for windows XP. So even if you cant switch to Windows Vista yet there is no reason to stay on IE6. It also has tabbed browsing (phew that took a while), RSS reader, integrated search box, print improvements (less paper spilling) go download it now here and then install it straight away September 21 Apple cancels iPod and starts selling the Zunewell almost :-) but take a look here and you might think that I was right: and just in case it gets fixed here is the proof Microsoft Zune - Portable Media Player by Apple Computer (Electronics) Electronics: See all items We will e-mail you when this item becomes available September 16 Why is the Zune brownbecause brown is the new black (or white) Brown is the fashion colour of the upcoming seasons you might expect an orange one as well as that is right there so maybe we will get a orange zune in the spring September 08 OneCare has 1.5 has entered betaan internal beta that is. It will be in a public beta next month. The two main features are:
If you haven’t heard, Windows Live OneCare is Microsoft’s PC Care suite, including antivirus, antispyware, firewall, and backup functionality in a “set it and forget it” package that has won rave reviews from customers in our v1.0 (XP only) release. We welcome you now to enjoy our v1.5 release and look forward to your feedback! Supported markets: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, UK, US Supported OSes: Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista (build 5500 or greater, recommended build is 5600 aka RC1) Windows Live WriterI have been using it for a few weeks and although it is still a beta app it is an amazing app. I heard people describe it as the first killer app for Live and I have to agree. Nevertheless I have two feature requests that would improve the quality of my blogging: I often forget to put in a category when posting with Live Writer. I wish it had a setting that would make it mandatory for me to provide a category. Of course that is something you need to be able to switch off so people who don’t care are not bothered. Writer's spell check should include the word blogging..... Update: I had also sent the category suggestion to our internal DL for Live Writer and got a lot of "yep I have that workflow problem too" emails. The team apparently will look into it and hopefully it will show up in a future release September 07 Another Microsoft Healthcare and Life Sciences architect started bloggingDavid Robinson who is a Solution Architect in Microsoft Consulting Services started blogging a few weeks ago. go check it out and give him some words of encouragement: |
